ConnectWise Integration a “Set It and Forget It” Solution
Time and money. That’s what Brett Whatley has saved by switching to SherWeb’s new integration with ConnectWise, a platform designed to help cloud resellers to streamline and automate customer billing.
Whatley, an Ontario-based IT infrastructure specialist, had been working directly with ConnectWise for about 10 years when the company decided to discontinue the licensing model he was using. When he learned that SherWeb was going to integrate the ConnectWise solution into its partner portal, he decided to make the switch. The move saved him about $250 US a month and many hours of extra work.
“It’s definitely a time-saving feature,” said Whatley. “It’s helped me recoup some US dollars that were going out the door to ConnectWise because I’m not using their cloud console anymore to manage the licenses that I have.”
Data Mapped Once
The new integration means SherWeb’s resellers won’t have to manually transfer their data to ConnectWise for billing purposes each time they sell a new product or make a change to an organization’s account. Once the data is mapped from SherWeb’s partner portal to ConnectWise, it will be automatically updated each time a change occurs. This means resellers don’t have to keep updating their client agreements, a feature that Whatley really likes.
“The way SherWeb’s ConnectWise connector pulls its data out of ConnectWise is actually quite smart. It’s fast on updating agreements; it finds them really quick, so I’m happy with that.”
Whatley’s company, Solve-IT, offers IT services to small businesses in southern Ontario. The company, which has been in business for about 10 years, has about 60 clients including automotive dealerships, insurance companies and pharmaceuticals. Whatley said he started working with SherWeb about five years ago because one of his clients wanted to maintain its data on Canadian servers. SherWeb currently has two datacenters in Canada, one in Montreal and another one in Quebec City.
Set It and Forget It
Solve-IT was one of eight companies involved in the beta stage of the ConnectWise integration earlier this year. While there were a few minor issues in the beginning, Whatley said the SherWeb team was able to make the process fairly seamless.
“For the most part, it has been a set it and forget it solution. There haven’t been any major hiccups. Once we got through the initial launch, there were a couple of updates to the connector. It’s been working quite well ever since.”
Despite this, Whatley said he’d still like to see a few more features added to the SherWeb integration, such as a way to track annual licenses. The current system configuration supports only monthly licenses. Aside from that, Whatley said he didn’t have any major complaints about the system and was pleased with the help SherWeb’s support team provided during the integration.
“I’d be more than happy to recommend it to somebody. If you want to save a couple of dollars on your monthly bill, it makes perfect sense to go with it.”
